Interesting Poker Facts

Did you know: The game of Poker is over 200 years old and originated in America its origins trace back to New Orleans. The game of poker was not played in its current form with a full 52-card deck until 1834. Poker was originally played on river barges as it was legal to play on the water and not on land at the time. The first live broadcast poker game/tournament was in 1983.

Poker Hands

Each Poker game uses a fifty-two- (52) card standard deck of playing cards. Each of the cards has a value. The cards are ranked from Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 through Two in descending order. An Ace may also be used as a card lower ranking than a Two in sequence.

While the earliest known form of the game was played with just 20 cards, today it is usually played with a standard deck. Although countries where short packs are common, may play with 32, 40 or 48 cards. But lets stick to the basics. The 52 card deck scinario.

Hands Ranking and Explaination:

In poker, hands are ranked based on the combination of cards they contain. Here’s a list of poker hands from highest to lowest, along with explanations for each:

Royal Flush:

Example: A, K, Q, J, 10 (all of the same suit)
The highest possible hand, consisting of the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 of the same suit.

Straight Flush:

Example: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 (all of the same suit)
Five consecutive cards of the same suit. If two players have a straight flush, the one with the higher top card wins.

Four of a Kind (Quads):

Example: 7, 7, 7, 7, 4
Four cards of the same rank. In case of a tie, the player with the higher set of four wins.

Full House:

Example: A, A, A, 8, 8
Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank. If two players have a full house, the one with the higher set of three wins.

Flush:

Example: K, 10, 8, 6, 4 (all of the same suit)
Five non-consecutive cards of the same suit. If multiple players have a flush, the one with the highest card wins.

Straight:

Example: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 (mixed suits)
Five consecutive cards of mixed suits. In the case of a tie, the one with the highest top card wins.

Three of a Kind (Trips or Set):

Example: Q, Q, Q, 5, 2
Three cards of the same rank. If two players have three of a kind, the one with the higher set of three wins.

Two Pair:

Example: J, J, 9, 9, 3
Two sets of pairs. If two players have two pair, the one with the higher top pair wins.

One Pair:

Example: 10, 10, 7, 6, 2
Two cards of the same rank. If two players have one pair, the one with the higher pair wins. If the pairs are equal, the highest non-paired cards determine the winner.

High Card:

Example: A, 10, 8, 5, 2 (mixed suits)
If no player has any of the above hands, the winner is determined by the highest card. If multiple players have the same high card, the next highest cards are compared.

Remember, poker hands are ranked based on the best five-card combination, and the suits do not have any impact on the hand’s strength unless there is a tie.

Texas Hold'Em

Hold it! Have you tried Hold’Em? Texas Hold’Em is the most popular online poker game. Tie up the horses, put the big iron on your hip and take a seat at a Texas Hold’Em table. The first version of the game was played in Robstown, Texas in the early 1900s. The first online poker hand was not dealt with until January 1998. Texas Hold’em was introduced to Las Vegas by well-known poker players such as Doyle Brunson and the legend was Amarillo Slim. Texas Hold’Em is the largest of all Poker games by player popularity.

How to Play 7 Card Stud?

Each player is dealt seven cards, only the best five cards play. First, each player is dealt three cards, two down and one up. The player with the lowest ‘up’ card must put a dollar in the pot. This starts the action and is the only forced bet in the game. Next, each player is dealt their fourth card, face up. The player with the highest card has the option of checking or betting $1 to $4. If all players check, the fifth card is free. If one of the players bets $1 to $4, you must call that bet or throw your hand away. The sixth card (dealt up), and the seventh card (down) are treated the same way. You must choose to call the bet (if one is made) or throw your hand away. Check and raise is permitted in all Stardust Poker Room games. The player with the best five card hand wins.

How do you play Texas Hold 'Em?

Each player is dealt two cards face down. There is an initial betting round and each player is required to put in $3 or fold their hand. Next the dealer turns three cards face up in the middle of the table, these are community cards and are known as the flop. After the flop there is another round of betting and players may check or bet $3. The dealer then turns the fourth card up, players can then check or bet $6. When the dealer turns up the fifth and final card, players may check or bet $6. Players must make the best hand using their two down cards and any or all of the five cards in the middle. The best five cards play.

Chinese Pai Gow Poker?

Pai Gow Poker is a combination of American poker and the ancient Chinese game of Pai Gow. The object of the game is to have two poker hands that out-rank the banker’s hands.

The game is played with a deck of 52 cards plus a joker. The joker can only be used as an ace or to complete a straight, flush or straight flush.

Each player is dealt seven cards which are used to arrange two hands, one two-card hand and one five-card hand. The hands are ranked according to traditional poker hands and the two-card hand must be lower in rank than the five-card hand.

If the player’s two hands out-rank the banker’s hands, the player wins even money. If only one of the two hands beats the banker’s hand, the hand is a tie and the player neither wins nor loses. If either of the hands is the same rank as the banker’s, the banker wins. If both hands rank lower than the banker’s, the player loses.

The house alternates with the players in serving as banker. A player must have enough money bet to cover all bets, including the house’s bet, in order to serve as banker. If a player chooses not to bank, the house will serve as banker for that hand.

All players must set their hands before the banker’s hand is set. Once the banker’s cards are exposed, the players cannot touch their cards.

Any hand that is set incorrectly (having a two-card hand that is higher than the five-card hand or having the wrong number of cards in each hand) is an automatic loser. Players are responsible for arranging their own hands. If requested, the dealer will be happy to help arrange the highest possible hand according to house rules, however, the dealer is not responsible for any losses incurred.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Omaha Hi-lo is the second most popular in online poker games. Ohaha Hi-Lo is a poker game in which each player receives four cards as their initial hand. Each player MUST use a specific combination of five cards: any two out of their hand and any three from the board (community cards) to form the best five-card Poker hand and also the best five-card low hand.

All-Inn

All-Inn in the game of Poker is where a player puts all of their chips into the pot. In a high-stakes Poker game or tournament, you have to be 100% sure you have the best hand in the game before going All-Inn.

Ante

Ante is defined as the money deposited into the pot prior to the start of a poker hand. The expression comes from poker and other betting games, where “ante” means to place a bet or deposit into the pot before the cards are dealt. The Ante in Poker games gan vary from game to game.

Blinds

Blinds in poker are mandatory bets that are put into the pot before the cards are dealt. The small blind is posted by the player to the left of the dealer button, and the big blind is posted by the next player to the left. the player to the left of the dealer’s button (small blind). The dealer and the second player to the left of the dealer (big blind) are required to make mandatory bets in the pot before the cards are dealt. dealt (the small blind must post half the amount of the big blind).

Bluff

A bluff in poker can be defined as a bet or raise to force an opponent to fold a hand incorrectly. The great thing about Poker for me is the ability to bluff. Bluffing seems slightly devious, misleading, or dishonest. But it’s all part of the Poker game. Poker is an addictive mix of suspense, luck, bluff, and strategy. But personality and persona are all at play at the Poker table. Bluffing in poker is when you bet or raise in an attempt to get your opponent to fold a hand that is better than yours, helping you award a default pot in the process.

The beauty of Poker is that you don’t require the best hand! To win, you just require the ability for your opponent to think you can beat him.
Sometimes a game can be won with nothing more than a poker face and a personality.

Call

An announcement that you are calling means that you are calling the other player’s bet; You can’t get out of the game. In this instance, you must be able to match your opponent’s bet to continue or fold. The options here are to call or to call and raise to stay in the game. If the player is unable or unwilling to meet the call he must fold.

Check

To Check is to pass on the betting.

Check-Raise

This is the best part of the game. When you are called, and you check you can check and raise the call to try and intimidate your opponent into a fold. This is where your poker face is required.

Community Cards

“Community cards” or “widow cards” are cards which are placed face up in the centre of the table and shared by all players. The set of community cards is usually arranged simply in a line in the centre of the table.

Fold

To Fold your hand is to give up. You should only do this when your hand is too weak to compete against other players at the table. Just state that you wish to fold and put your cards face down on the table to represent this.

Hand

A hand is the set of five cards made up of the pocket card the player started with and the community cards.

Poker Face

A rich facial expression. Is enough sometimes to turn a game. A poker face is a facial expression that does not express any emotion, a facial expression that hides its feelings by making it appear blank or neutral. In Poker even when you feel the heat. A poker face is essential when trying to hide flaws in your strategy or fooling other players into folding when you possess an inferior hand.

In other words, the player is said to have a poker face, which means that regardless of his hand strength, he is completely emotionless and emotionless at the poker table.

This ability is a huge advantage when playing poker in person but of far lesser advantage when playing poker online.
But I suppose you could create a more intimidating avatar than the other guys to create the same dramatic effect.
Poker professionals attempt to remain expressionless during the game, so their opponents cannot guess their strategies or situations in the game. Poker players try to keep their faces completely blank so that no one can tell if their cards are good or bad. This adds a completely psychological aspect to the game.

Winning in poker is very important and it is important that the player provides as little information as possible about his hand. It is strategically advantageous for each player to keep his hand value secret. In our opinion, this is where online poker excels in entertainment and excitement as its as luck and money are often beaten by face and conviction. In this way poker is a more even game. Financial advantage is of far less benefit than in other casino games. Check out great news articles about other online poker sites. Ready for the world series of Poker (WSOP) real money main event?
